Entrepreneurship Across Borders: Zjef Bogers on the Potential of the Brazilian Real Estate Market
As the founder of Holland2Stay and Codomo Living, Zjef Bogers currently manages more than 10,000 homes in the Netherlands and has successfully expanded into the European market. With active operations in four European countries, he is focused on building a robust international platform. During a recent orientation trip to Brazil with ARD Capital Partners, Bogers encountered a market dynamic he hadn't seen in Europe for a long time.
A Market in its Infancy
Bogers noted that the Brazilian market is still very much in its early stages, characterized by significant space, growth, and energy. He observed that student housing is hardly developed, presenting enormous potential for professional providers. In a massive city like São Paulo, which has over 12 million inhabitants and a large student population, the professional supply remains limited. This creates opportunities that have largely already been filled in Western Europe.
“You notice here that the market is still very much in its infancy. There is space, growth, and energy. Student housing is hardly developed yet, and the potential is enormous.”
Strategic Focus on European Growth
Despite the clear opportunities in South America, Bogers has reached a definitive conclusion regarding his business operations. He believes there is still more than enough work to be done within Europe, where his companies are already seeing plenty of growth opportunities. Over the coming years, the goal is to expand operations from four countries to five or six. Currently, the full focus remains on further strengthening Holland2Stay and Codomo Living within the European continent.
Instead of an immediate expansion to the other side of the world, Bogers has made a conscious decision to maintain his current strategic direction. This approach ensures that the organization stays disciplined and prioritizes the regions where it can currently achieve the most significant impact.
Personal Involvement and Entrepreneurial Discipline
While he is not moving his business operations to Brazil, Bogers has chosen to invest privately in the ARD fund to maintain a connection to the Brazilian market. He views this as a valuable way to stay involved, learn from the local dynamics, and diversify his personal interests without shifting the operational focus of his companies. He describes himself as an entrepreneur who wants to continue identifying and understanding global opportunities.
Ultimately, the story of this trip to Brazil is not an announcement of a new expansion round, but rather an illustration of modern entrepreneurship. It highlights the importance of staying curious and thinking internationally while having the discipline to maintain focus on the core organization.
